WOD - October 6th
We're in week 2 of The 5 Solas. The Doctrines of Grace, Family-Integration, Evangelistically-driven, Historic Southern Baptist's will follow. We have begun our journey through who we are. Invite a friend!
. . .Here's what's on deck this week.
The latest blog entry is another conversation starter. We'll be talking more about this topic during lunch over the next few weeks.
In the next few weeks, we will be discussing the opportunities we have to reach out to the communities and neighborhoods around us. Both young and old alike will want to be a part of these discussions.
If you are interested in a more in-depth study of the 5 Solas, here is a link where you can purchase leader and student books.
I referred to "Safely Home" by Randy Alcorn a couple of weeks ago. It is a fiction novel about the persecuted church in China. It is worth reading! Wendy finished it on the road last weekend. I'm more than halfway through. We bought a copy for my mom who turned 66 last week. She is a Voice of the Martyrs supporter so I'm sure she'll love it.
In light of the political campaign that is now in full swing, here is Part 3 of a 3-part series on Christians and Government at Pulpit Magazine. You can find Part 1 here and Part 2 here.
Due to a schedule conflict last week, our men will take a week off and we will meet as families in our small groups. The North group will be at the Nunley's. The South group will be at Circle of Life.
The Nida's have volunteered to keep and print a weekly prayer list. They will be printing and passing out prayer lists each Sunday a.m. Please let me know if you do not want the prayer requests you send forwarded to the rest of the church and placed on the prayer list. Unless you do, expect me to inform the rest of the congregation of your need. When they get it updated, they will send it to me electronically so I can foward it via email. This way you will have a hard copy on Sunday and a version on your computer.
If you haven't been to Sunday School lately, you need to make it a part of your week. We meet during Sunday school and will do so each week until we conclude the Baptist version of the Shorter Catechism. There are daily family devotionals, Scripture memory, and journaling as a part of the weekly homework. More information may be found, and the weekly material can be downloaded here. Come join us each week at 9:15 for fellowship and 9:30 for the study.
Birthdays and Anniversaries for this week include:
Birthday: Chris H. - 6th; Rusty B. and Greg J. - 9th; Haley R. 10th
Anniversary: Scott and Jo M. - 1st
The lunch menu has been updated! You can find it here.
If you have any questions or if I have forgotten something, please let me know.
May the Lord bless you this week!
Pastor Chris
